Santiago Callerio, one of IAPG Houston’s scholars, recently presented a technical paper at a conference hosted by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). His research addresses key challenges in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), contributing valuable insights to the field. The presentation was well received and highlights the meaningful impact that IAPG Houston scholars can achieve through their academic work in the United States.

The IAPG Houston officially kicked off the 2025–2026 term following its annual assembly held in Houston. In a gathering marked by camaraderie, outgoing President Joe Amador reflected on the accomplishments of the 2024–2025 period. He also introduced our incoming President, Richard Spies. During the assembly, the IAPG Houston also elected its new leadership team, including the Board of Directors and Deputy Directors.

The Low Carbon Committee at the IAPG Houston hosted a webinar on the critical topic of reducing methane emissions in the Vaca Muerta shale play. We were honored to welcome keynote speakers Sebastián Sánchez (Shell) and Adolfo Contreras (SLB), who shared valuable insights, real-world examples, and the key challenges operators are currently facing in the field.

The IAPG Houston was proud to take part in this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), where we moderated an engaging panel discussion titled “The Economic, Technical, and Political Challenges for Argentina’s Energy Industry.” Our president, Joe Amador, led the conversation alongside distinguished panelists Juan José Aranguren and Francisco Monaldi, delivering thoughtful insights into the future of Argentina’s energy landscape. The event was organized by the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires.

The IAPG Houston proudly hosted its annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) cocktail reception at the Petroleum Club of Houston. It was a fantastic evening filled with valuable networking, meaningful conversations, and new opportunities for collaboration. We were honored to welcome Mr. Alfredo Cornejo, Governor of the Province of Mendoza, who shared the province’s compelling outlook for upstream investment. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

The IAPG Houston, through its Technical Committee, recently hosted a webinar exploring the transformative impact of cutting-edge digital technologies on the Vaca Muerta play. Featuring a call for action, a strategic framework and real-world examples, keynote speakers Ernesto Fonseca (IAPG Houston) and Eugenio Ferrigno (Globant) offered valuable insights into the ongoing “Digitalization of Vaca Muerta.”

As part of its ongoing CEO Breakfast Series, the IAPG Houston had the privilege of hosting Mr. Horacio Marin, CEO of YPF. During his presentation, Mr. Marin highlighted the key achievements of YPF under his leadership and reflected on the main challenges the company has encountered. He also outlined the strategic objectives that lie ahead for YPF in the coming years.

IAPG Houston hosted its Annual Year-End Cocktail, a wonderful occasion to celebrate the success of 2024. The event united IAPG Houston members, the Board of Directors, young professionals, scholars, and students in a festive atmosphere.
